Energy efficiency  Central air conditioning helps keep your home cool and reduces humidity levels.  

Energy efficiency -The efficiency of a A/C can be determined by its SEER-or Seasonal energy efficiency ratio. The minimum efficiency level for A/C  in Canada. is 13 SEER. When comparing different systems, always look for high Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratios (SEER), which measure the cooling efficiency of an air-conditioner, but also for quiet operation and ease of use—you’ll be glad you did on those hot summer nights.

Every air conditioner has an energy-efficiency rating of that identifies how many BTUs per hour are removed from the space for each watt of electricity it consumes. For room air conditioners, we call this the Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER). For central air conditioners, it is the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER). You'll find these ratings on the Energy Guide Label that is visibly attached to all new air conditioners. Many air conditioner manufacturers participate in the Energy Star® labelling program. This insignia means that the product complies with high efficiency standards and generally reflects high EER and SEER ratings. 

Usually, new air conditioners with higher EERs or SEERs are more expensive. But don't let that put you off. The higher priced unit will pay you back many times over during the life of the system in reduced energy costs. We strongly recommend that you purchase the most efficient air conditioner you can afford, especially if you are living in an area where demand and/or power rates are high. It is also important to keep in mind that electricity rates are always rising. The higher your electricity rates the quicker the payback.

A rating of "98% AFUE" means that for every dollar you spend heating your water; 98 cents are actually applied to the generation of heat. Compared to many of the 60% AFUE hot water tanks which are currently being installed in homes today. A 98% AFUE Tankless can provide you with significant energy savings and a quick RIO (return on investment).
